Bedrule is a really nice wee village, with a great sense of community.
Not too long ago the community got together to buy their village hall. Go community!!
Memories of Bedrule:
Donated by myself: Bonfire night 2005, going up Bedrule Hill on tractor and trailor. Watching the fireworks of Hawick, Bonchester, Denholm, Jedburgh and who knows where else while eating food that that had been brought by everyone and drinking home made slow-gin. Fantastic.
Christmas parties in the village hall when I was wee. Santa Claus coming through the entrance with a sack full of toys and having a present for every kid in the hall. Magic.
Whist Drives. The village hall is a fantastic place for any sort of gatherings (and is available for hire guys, go there, now!). I never learned how to play whist but there was always a dominoes table at the top of the hall for the likes of me. The tea and coffee break was ace, a relief of tension went up from sighs of moving chairs at this point. I tell you, whist is a seriously competitive sport.
